CFWabash Harvey V. Underwood Science Scholarship

The Harvey V. Underwood Science Scholarship was established in 2003 by Harvey’s family, friends, and colleagues. Harvey V. Underwood began teaching at Manchester High School in the 1960s. He was a challenging teacher whose love of biology and curiosity about life was infectious. Selection will be based on academic performance (especially in science), community involvement, citizenship, character, and a written statement.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Manchester High School graduate (current year) or a previous year's scholarship recipient
  • Full-time student pursuing a four-year undergraduate degree in life science, physical science, or science education from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Minimum accumulated GPA of 7.0 on an 11.0 scale or the equivalent

CFWabash Jo's Hope Scholarship

Jo’s Hope is named for Jo Hensley who passed away too soon from cancer. Her loving sisters Janet and Deb and their families created the scholarship in her memory. She was the dietician for Manchester Community Schools and was a great encourager of students. She was a beloved mother, wife, sister, and aunt. She had a sense of humor and a serious concern for everyone around her. The scholarship is awarded to a traditional student who shares Jolene’s personal interests and character traits of honesty, loyalty, humor, and leadership. Other selection criteria include school involvement/ engagement, academic performance, and community service.

Eligibility Requirements

  • A Manchester High School graduate in the current year
  • Graduating from high school with a GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4-point scale
  • A Wabash County resident
  • Pursuing a 2-year or 4-year degree at an accredited public or private institution of higher learning with a concentration in healthcare or health and wellness

CFWabash John L. Eckert Memorial Educational Scholarship

Family and friends of John Eckert established The John L. Eckert Memorial Scholarship Endowment to memorialize the life of John and his dedication to education. Mr. Eckert was Manchester Community School’s superintendent from 1982 to 1992. From 1971 to 1982, he was the superintendent for the Rochester Community School Corporation, and before that Mr. Eckert was a teacher for Huntington Community Schools and for Southwood High School.

Eligibility Requirements

  • SHS, MHS, Huntington, or Rochester High School graduate (current year)
  • Minimum GPA of 8.0 on an 11.0 scale or equivalent
  • Must be pursuing a four-year undergraduate degree in public education (with goal to be a public school teacher or administrator)
  • Full or part-time student at an accredited institution of higher education

CFWabash Mallori L. Kastner Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship memorializes the life of Mallori Kastner, a 2010 graduate of Wabash High School, a talented athlete, and a team player who was killed tragically in an accident while a student at Grace College. Selection is based on specific character traits, including team cooperation, leadership, and commitment to the sport of volleyball. Academic performance and school involvement will also be considered.

Eligibility Requirements

  • A resident of Wabash County and a graduate of Wabash High School
  • Pursuing a two- or four-year undergraduate degree from any college or university
  • Graduating from high school with a GPA of "C" or better
  • Participating in high school volleyball during the entirety of their Wabash High School career

CFWabash Paul Thomas Reahard Memorial Scholarship

Paul Reahard taught English, creative writing, and theatre arts at Whitko High School where he was the recipient of the prestigious Dekko Foundation Teacher of the Year Award in 1996. His parents created this scholarship to carry on their son’s legacy of bringing out the best in students and awakening the spark of creativity within themselves. Selection will be based on academic performance, and financial need. Community service, work experience, or an indication of interest in and dedication to activities in performing arts, drama, theater, English literature, or creative writing are contributing factors.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Whitko High School students and students of all Wabash County high schools
  • Full or part-time students pursuing a four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited institution who aspire to pursue a teaching career in the field of drama, theater, English, or literature, or a career in the performing arts
  • A minimum GPA of 7.0 on an 11.0 scale of the equivalent (B-average)
  • Traditional students only

CFWabash Raymond C. and Martha Ross Hood Scholarship

Martha Ross Hood was born in Wabash in 1932. Her parents operated a jewelry store, where Martha helped as a child, but when she grew up, she went to Indiana University to become a teacher. The Hoods created this scholarship to help hard working students build the means of taking care of themselves and their families. Students who have lived in the county at least three years and attended Wabash High School at least two years may apply. Recipients may study in any field, but preference will be given to a student who plans to pursue teacher education. The recipient will be active in extra-curricular activities, have financial need, and will have articulated a commitment to the Christian faith.

  • Wabash County resident for the past two years
  • Wabash High School graduate in the past three years
  • Having graduated from high school with a grade point average of B- or better
  • Enrolling on a full-time basis in a two or four-year Indiana public or private institution of higher education

CFWabash Raymond C. and Martha Ross Hood Scholarship Endowment for Accounting Studies

Martha Ross Hood grew up in the business world. Her parents ran a retail store, and when Martha took a year off from college to compete in the Indiana State Gladiola Queen Contest, which she won, she spent the year travelling and working for the J. W. Lewis Insurance Agency. Students who have lived in the county at least three years and attended Wabash High School at least two years may apply. Recipients may study any field, but preference will be given to a student who plans to major in accounting. The recipient will be active in extra-curricular activities, have demonstrated financial need, and will articulate a religious affiliation and commitment to the Christian faith.

  • A graduate of Wabash High School in the past three years
  • Having graduated from high school with a grade point average of B- or better
  • Enrolling on a full-time basis in a two- or four-year Indiana public or private institution of higher education

WCCF Christian Care Retirement Community Scholarship

This scholarship is intended for Wells County residents who are graduating seniors of Bluffton High School, Kingdom Academy, Norwell High School, or Southern Wells High School entering one of the following fields of study: medical, food preparation (dietetics, culinary arts), recreational therapy (occupational or physical), or social services, with a minimum 3.0 GPA planning to enter a 2-year trade/technical training program or 4-year academic college program.

Preference may be given to the following:

Individuals who have expressed interest in pursuing a career relating to services for the elderly; and current employees of Christian Care Retirement Community.

WCCF Ronald E. DeWitt Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is intended for graduating seniors from Bluffton High School with a minimum GPA of 2.5 planning to enter an accredited postsecondary institution as a full-time or part-time student; and must have been involved in athletics (participant or manager) throughout high school.

WCCF James I. and Glennis S. Dick Business Scholarship

Must be a graduating senior of Southern Wells High School and resident of Wells County with a minimum GPA of 3.0 planning to enter a 2-year trade/technical, or 4-year academic college program, majoring in a business-related field of postsecondary studies (secondary consideration will be given to students who are pursuing a degree in education. Must have actively participated in community service. Scholarship may be utilized at any accredited public or private postsecondary institution.

George G., Elma B., Ruth M. Wimmer Scholarship

PNC Bank Trustee of George G., Elma B., Ruth M. Wimmer Scholarship Fund has established a scholarship program to assist high school seniors attending Huntington North High School, Northside High School, Northrop High School, R. Nelson Snider High School, Southside High School, Wayne High School, or Allen County Juvenile Center in Indiana who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

Eligible applicants must be pursuing a degree in one of the following fields of study:

  • Medical (Pre-Medicine)
  • Nursing
  • Sciences*
  • Occupational therapy
  • Engineering – only if related to the fields of science, medicine or nursing
  • Computer science
  • Actuarial science

*Sciences will be reviewed by the committee for eligibility.

  • Plan to enroll in fulltime undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)

CFWabash Gerold "Doe" Faudree Athletic Scholarship

Gerold Faudree’s children established a scholarship in his name to honor his storied career as teacher and coach at Manchester High School. This scholarship combines the two together by awarding a scholarship to a Manchester High School scholar/athlete who is pursuing a career in teaching with an interest in coaching. Selection is based on athletic ability, academic performance, leadership skills, evidence of high moral and ethical standards, and financial need.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Manchester High School graduate (current year)
  • Full-time students pursuing a four-year undergraduate degree and pursuing a career in coaching and teaching from an accredited Indiana institution
  • Minimum GPA of 8.25 on an 11.0 scale or the equivalent
  • Traditional students only
