CFWC Whitley County Korean War Veterans Memorial Scholarship

The Whitley County Korean War Veterans Memorial Scholarship was established in honor of Whitley County individuals who served their country in the Korean War. The scholarship is also a means for memorializing their contributions to the freedoms taken for granted each day. This scholarship is presented to a student who has demonstrated understanding of the contributions made by these men and women in service to our country. The recipient has to be a Whitley County senior with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, in the top 75% of their class. Preference given to a senior planning to attend a vocational school to receive an associate degree or equivalent certification. The student must attend an accredited Indiana college, university or trade school. This scholarship is administered by the Community Foundation of Whitley County.

CFWC Whitley County Retired Teachers’ Association Scholarship

Established by the Whitley County Retired Teachers’ Association to ensure students pursue the field of teaching, this scholarship is available to a graduating senior from any public high school in Whitley County who is planning to attend a 4-year college or university in pursuit of a Baccalaureate degree. Applicants should be in the top third of their graduating class, hold a grade point average of 3.0 or better and have aspirations of a career in education.

This scholarship is administered by the Community Foundation of Whitley County.

CFWC Bob Brittain Memorial Scholarship/CCHS Alumni Scholarship

Named after a CCHS Alumni and admired teacher and speech and debate coach, this scholarship will go to a Columbia City High School graduate who has been actively involved in several extra-curricular activities, major service activities, and have a grade point average reflective of respectable academic growth. This student will have a four year involvement in the activities listed on their application. This student will also be fully involved in high school classes during the final trimester of the senior year.

This scholarship is administered by the Community Foundation of Whitley County.

CFWC Dan Mullett “For the Love of a Child” Scholarship

Friends and family established this scholarship in honor of beloved principal, Dan Mullett. This scholarship is available to a Columbia City High School Senior, in the top half of their class. The applicant should be seeking a four-year baccalaureate degree in elementary education.

IU Cox Access Scholarship

The Cox Access Scholarship allows hard-working, nontraditional Indiana residents with financial need that are academically strong an opportunity to return to school to build on their academic experience and complete their degree.

To be eligible for the Cox Access Scholarship, you must:

  • Enter IU classified as an Indiana resident with a citizen status of U.S. Citizen or Naturalized Citizen, and cumulative gap of three years or more in your education.
  • Be pursuing your first baccalaureate degree.
  • Be a full-time student enrolled in at least 12 credit hours upon arrival and throughout your academic career at IU Bloomington.
  • Be earning a 3.0 cumulative grade point average or higher (4.0 scale) at the application deadline. If you have attended an IU campus previously, that GPA will be considered. IU Bloomington's Fresh Start program can be utilized to potentially improve your campus GPA prior to applying.
  • Demonstrate financial need by filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the federal government by April 15 for the upcoming academic year.
  • Be willing to complete a 10 to 12 hour work commitment each week during your entire enrollment at Indiana University.
  • As an incoming student, apply to Indiana University Bloomington by November 1 for Cox Scholarship consideration.

CFWC Bob and Kaye Smith Academic Scholarship

Lane and Lesli Smith established and named this scholarship in honor of Bob and Kaye Smith, for their support and encouragement to always strive for excellence in education and future dreams. As Bob and Kaye have supported the Columbia City community over the years, this scholarship is intended to support students who desire to make an impact for tomorrow and is awarded to a Columbia City High School graduate who intends to pursue a four-year degree in a STEM-related field. This scholarship may be renewable and is administered by the Community Foundation of Whitley County.

Indiana CPA Educational Foundation Scholarship

The Indiana CPA Educational Foundation Scholarship provides financial assistance to students pursuing their accounting major and ultimate entry into the CPA profession. These scholarships of $1,000–$2,000 per year (amount determined by years until graduation) are renewable and dependent on recipient meeting the renewal criteria.

Ball State University Alumni Association Northeastern Indiana Alumni Chapter Scholarship

  • Accepted as an incoming freshman at Ball State University
  • Resident of/high school senior at a school in one of the following Northeastern Indiana counties: Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Noble, Wells, and Whitley.
  • Preference will be given to those with financial need, as demonstrated by completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Money awarded should be used for expenses such as tuition, room and board, or books.

IEHA "Steps to Success" Scholarship

This scholarship is offered by the Indiana Extension Homemakers Association.

SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES

  • Applicant must be a resident of the State of Indiana.
  • Applicant must be admitted or be enrolled in an accredited college or university or an accredited vocational or technical program. This should be a two-year program earning an industry certification in the chosen field.
  • Vocational and technical scholarship applicants must include a letter from school advisor stating that candidate is on track for graduation.
  • Attach the following to completed application:
    1. Two (2) character reference letters from persons not related to you.
    2. Official High School transcript of courses completed, including GPA and class rank.
    3. A copy of the College/School acceptance letter, if courses have not started.
    4. A copy of acceptance letter to an accredited vocational/technical school.
    5. A letter of recommendation from your primary technical instructor or director.
    6. A 500-word essay describing the life skills applicant has developed through high school and community involvement. Include educational background, financial need, volunteer or community service activities and how applicant would benefit from this scholarship.
  • Applications must be postmarked by MAY 1 to be considered. Applications postmarked after May 1 will not be considered.

Farmhouse Fraternity Achievement Scholarship

This scholarship is sponsored by the Purdue FarmHouse Foundation of FarmHouse Fraternity and is restricted to any male 4-H member residing in Indiana who is (or will be) enrolled as a freshman at Purdue University.

Alberta C. Kaufman Scholarship

To honor his late mother, Attorney Marshall Kaufman of Kentucky’s Kaufman & Stigger, PLLC, has offered a scholarship to graduating high school seniors and current college students. Alberta C. Kaufman encouraged her son to further his education and to eventually attend law school.

  • Be a graduating high school senior or currently enrolled student at a 2 or 4-year college or university

BAE Systems FIRST® Scholarship Program

BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist high school seniors who live within 70 miles of a BAE systems facility who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

Applicants to the BAE Systems FIRST® Scholarship Program must:

  1. Be on a FIRST® team (FRC or FTC) that has been sponsored by BAE Systems’ Electronic Systems (ES) sector during the 2022-2023 competition season.
  2. Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four- year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire 2023-2024 academic year.
  3. Plan to pursue one of the following fields of study:
    • Mechanical Engineering/Materials Engineering
    • Manufacturing Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering/Electrical and Computer Engineering
    • Computer Engineering
    • Interdisciplinary Engineering (Including Electromechanical Engineering)
    • Computer Science
    • Physics
    • Optical Engineering
    • Aerospace Engineering
    • Robotics Engineering
    • Software Engineering
    • Mathematics (must have minor in Computer Science)
  4. Have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.00 scale (or its equivalent).
  5. Demonstrate a willingness to accept an internship with Sponsor by completing an internship application on the Sponsor’s website when directed. Subsequent internship opportunities will be based on performance.
  6. Must be able to comply with BAE Systems’ security and employment requirements. The requirements are detailed here.

Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) Pre-service Teacher Scholarship

The Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) will award up to three $1,000 scholarships to college or university students in Indiana working towards a teaching certificate in a field that includes teaching mathematics in elementary, middle, or high school. Individuals who have taught professionally are not eligible for these scholarships.

James A. Wells, Sr. Veterans Scholarship

To honor her late father, attorney Cara Wells Stigger, of Kaufman & Stigger, PLLC, has offered scholarships for U.S. active duty military personnel, veterans, reservist, and spouses, and children of someone who has served our country.  Two students will be awarded $1,000.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a Kentucky or Indiana resident
  • Must be a US Military active duty, reservist, veteran, spouse or child of a someone who served our country.
  • Be a graduating high school senior or currently enrolled student at a 2 or 4-year college or university
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Plan to pursue a postsecondary degree after high school graduation
  • If you are selected to receive this scholarship, a form DD-214 must be provided prior to receiving the award.

Indiana Health Care Foundation (IHCF) Nursing Scholarship

The Indiana Health Care Foundation (IHCF) applauds individuals who are dedicated to advancing their career through continued education. IHCF is accepting scholarship applications from individuals pursuing educational training for LPN/RN (PN/Associate/Bachelor) degrees. Multiple scholarships are available ranging from $1,000 - $5,000 dependent upon merit, need, and demand.

ELIGIBILITY: To be considered for an Indiana Health Care Foundation (IHCF) Nursing Scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Reside in the State of Indiana.
  • Possess a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Be able to provide documentation showing current acceptance or enrollment in a LPN or RN (either ASN or BSN)
    degree program accredited in the State of Indiana for the Fall of 2025 or Winter of 2026.
  • Have a GPA or 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Have a passion to work with the elderly or disabled populations.
  • Return completed application with transcripts from the highest level of degree completed, two
    recommendation forms, and an essay to IHCF by the deadline.
    • Transcripts should be included to verify education indicated on the application. Unofficial transcripts are
      accepted.
    • Essay should include, but not be limited to, your passion, experience, reason for wanting/needing the
      scholarship, future career goals in relation to caring for the elderly or disabled populations, and why you
      deserve to receive the scholarship. Special consideration will be given to those who have previous
      experience in a long term care setting who wish to continue working within the long term care
      professional upon completion of their degree.
    • Recommendation forms from professional contacts should include at least one from a current or former
      direct supervisor or instructor.
  • Agree to a virtual or personal interview with the IHCF Scholarship committee if requested.
  • Individuals related to a member of the IHCF Board of Directors are ineligible.

Indiana Latino Institute (ILI) Scholarship

The Indiana Latino Institute (ILI) Scholarship was created as a means to address the under-representation of Latinos in post-secondary education. The goal is to encourage Latino students in Indiana to pursue higher education and engage in community service. Preference given to Latino students residing in Indiana who are first generation college students.

Alivio Medical Center Scholarship

The Alivio Medical Center Scholarship is an annual, merit-based competition offered to undergraduate or graduate students that focuses on rewarding ambitious, driven, goal-oriented individuals with majors related to the medical field. Including: medical, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy or optometry. These scholarships in the amount of $1,500.00 will be awarded to 10 eligible students selected by an outside committee. Financial need is considered; however, all high school seniors, undergraduate students or graduate students are encouraged to apply. Assisting others in making their dream of attending a college or university a reality, is the main goal of the scholarship committee. Preference given to Latino students residing in Indiana who are first generation college students. The Alivio Medical Center Scholarship is funded through the Indiana Latino Institute and donations made by Alivio Medical Clinic.

MDFF Educational Scholarship

The MDFF Educational Scholarship Sponsored by Busey Bank exists to assist Indiana residents diagnosed with muscular dystrophy or a neuromuscular disease in pursuit of their education goals.

Applicant must be diagnosed with muscular dystrophy or a neuromuscular disease (see applicable diseases listed on the MDA website) and reside in the state of Indiana.

Heartland REMC Scholarship

Heartland REMC is proud to offer a scholarship program to financially assist students of REMC members. Each scholarship is $500 and 20 winners will be drawn at the Heartland REMC Annual Meeting Business Meeting. 

Qualifications for the applicant include:

  • The students must attend college within 12 months.

  • Applicants must be a full-time student.

  • The student may attend any two-year, four-year, or technical school.

  • The student and/or the parents/guardians of the qualifying student must be members of the REMC, and their primary residence must be served by Heartland REMC.

  • Students must submit their application for the scholarship by June 1.

  • Winners of prior years’ scholarships are not eligible.

CICF Crooked Stick Endowed Scholarship
