KCCF Dr. Harold Mason Memorial Scholarship

This fund was established by Margaret Mason in memory of her husband, Harold Mason, to fund scholarships for students who are graduating or have already graduated from Lakeland Christian Academy, to assist them in obtaining college degrees in a medical field or in foreign missionary service. Dr. and Mrs. Mason served as missionaries for many years in the Central African Republic. Dr. Mason also operated a medical practice in Warsaw.

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:

KCCF McDonald Memorial Scholarship

Dr. Angus C. McDonald came to Warsaw in 1892. He established the first hospital in Warsaw, and was one of the founders and the first president of Bakers' Boys Club. This scholarship helps traditional and non-traditional students from Kosciusko County achieve their educational dreams.

KCCF Selma McKrill Brown Educational Fund

Realizing the benefits of higher education and the cultivation of individual talents, Selma Brown generously created the Selma McKrill Brown Educational Trust. This scholarship benefits worthy students from Kosciusko County. Selma lived from 1898 to 1986. She was married to Dale Brown.

KCCF Paul K. and M. Magdalene Miller Scholarship

This fund was established by the nephew of Paul and Magdalene Miller, in their memory. Paul and Magdalene were lifelong teachers, and Paul was a devoted Kiwanian. Members of the Warsaw Kiwanis Club provided early support of scholarships in Paul Miller's memory and they continue to serve as the selection committee for this scholarship, which provides assistance for those intending to become professional teachers or instructors.

KCCF Ray and Jan Monteith Scholarship

Created by Jan Monteith to provide scholarships to graduates from Kosciusko County high schools who are pursuing education leading to careers in social services, education or human services. Ray and Jan and their family moved to Warsaw in 1966 and opened Monteith Tire.

 Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Graduate of a high school serving Kosciusko County
  • Attending college in Indiana
  • Field of Study: Education or Behavioral & Social Science
  • Demonstrates financial need
  • Pursuing undergraduate or master degree

 Reviewers will consider the following when selecting a recipient:

  • Pursuing a career in social services, education or human services (i.e. teachers, social workers, nonprofit leaders)
  • Demonstrate ethical behavior
  • Demonstrate an ability to succeed in post-secondary education

 Preference may be given to:

  • Students with a GPA above 3.0 on a 4-point scale (or its equivalent)

KCCF Winston “Win” and Carolyn Morrison Scholarship

Win Morrison was born in West Virginia, but came to Indiana when he was very young. He served in the Army Air Corp in World War II, then attended Purdue University. He worked for a brief time at a steel mill before being employed by NIPSCO, where he stayed until he retired. Carolyn was a stay at home mom and was involved in her church, singing in the choir until she was 80-years-old. This fund was established in memory of Win and Carolyn in tribute to what they most valued: their faith, children and education.

 Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Graduating senior of Warsaw Community High School
  • Accepted into Ball State University, Grace College, Purdue University or Indiana University
  • GPA: “B” average or above
  • Active church member

 Reviewers will consider the following when selecting a recipient:

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve academic success
  • Participation in extracurricular activities

KCCF Rob Morton Scholarship

This fund was established in 2004 from the Estate of Marjorie Morton in memory of Marjorie's son, Rob Morton. Rob was a 16-year-old junior at Warsaw High School, and is believed to have suffered a massive brain hemorrhage after a head injury during football practice. Rob was a member of the Methodist Church, was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Explorer's Club.

 Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Kosciusko County resident
  • Graduate of a high school serving Kosciusko County
  • GPA: 2.9 or higher on 4-point scale (or its equivalent)
  • Demonstrates financial need

 Reviewers will consider the following when selecting a recipient:

  • Participation in community service through church, youth groups, or other civic organizations
  • Demonstrated social skills through participation in extracurricular activities

KCCF Judy Mugg Scholarship

Established by Judy Mugg, a retired educator who served in many capacities in education including as the Principal of Sacred Heart Elementary School. This fund will provide scholarships to area students.

Dr. Murphy practiced medicine in Claypool, moving his practice to Warsaw in 1914. He acquired a reputation as an outstanding physician and as a citizen concerned with civic welfare.

KCCF Deborah J. Nelson Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship fund was created in memory of Deborah Nelson by her husband, Jack Nelson. Deborah was a Kindergarten teacher at Syracuse Elementary School. She loved working with children, being with family and friends, and spending time at the lake. The scholarship benefits Wawasee High School seniors who will major in Education in college with preference given to students who have shown perseverance in the face of adversity.

KCCF Robert and Lenny Nichols Scholarship

During the lifetimes of Robert and Colleen Nichols, they funded scholarships through Madison School's Parent-Teacher Organization in memory of their son Lenny, who passed away in 1961 at the age of 12. Colleen made a bequest to continue this scholarship after her death.

Mr. Elmer Ostrom established this fund in memory of his grandfather, Eric Ostrom, an organist in the Lutheran Church in Liden, Sweden. The fund provides scholarships for students pursuing a course of study in music.

KCCF Marcia and Homer Ousley, Jr. Fund

Established by Homer Ousley, Jr. to benefit students from the communities where he and Marcia worked and lived including Manchester Schools, Tippecanoe Valley Schools and Whitko Schools. Homer was a farm manager for Creighton Brothers for 40 years and operated his own corn and soybean farm. Marcia taught elementary school for nearly 30 years. Homer and his late wife valued education and believed that education is the best tool against poverty.

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Citizen or legal resident of the United States
  • Graduate of Manchester Jr/Sr High School, Tippecanoe Valley High School or Whitko Jr/Sr High School

KCCF Dennis Overmeyer Memorial Scholarship

This fund was created by Keri Overmeyer-Glennie and Angela Markwalder in memory of their father, Dennis Overmeyer. It provides scholarship assistance to students who have graduated from Tippecanoe Valley Schools and are pursuing a postsecondary degree at a university or college. Dennis was a U.S. Marine veteran, a volunteer fire fighter and a volunteer board member for Four Way EMS in Mentone.

 Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School
  • Top 50% of high school class
  • Demonstrates financial need

This fund was established by Janet Petro and the late Bruce Petro, in honor of Bruce's parents, Dresdon and Dortha Hammer Petro. Bruce Petro owned a Buick dealership in Warsaw for many years. Dresdon and Dortha Petro had five sons. Dortha was a teacher. This scholarship assists students who intend to pursue teaching.

  • Kosciusko County resident at the time of high school graduation OR Graduate of Monroe Central Jr/Sr High School in Randolph County
  • Field of Study: Education

  2. Kosciusko County residents at the time of high school graduation who are pursuing a career in teaching at a school in Indiana

KCCF Pfeiffer-Rarick Scholarship

Established by Robert T. Pfeiffer and Isobel L. Pfeiffer in memory Isobel’s parents, Frank and Ethel Rarick. Frank and Ethel lived in Warsaw where they raised two daughters. Robert and Isobel were both college educators. They enjoyed playing Bridge, traveling and collecting original artwork. They were members of Trinity United Methodist Church.

 Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Kosciusko County resident for at least three years OR Graduate of a high school serving Kosciusko County
  • Attending Manchester University
  • Demonstrates financial need

KCCF Sergeant Terry Polston Memorial Fund

This fund was created by many friends and family members of Terry Polston, a beloved Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) officer, when he passed away in 2008 after a long battle with cancer. As a tribute to Terry, this scholarship benefits students who exemplify the characteristics taught in DARE.

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Graduate of Warsaw Community High School, Lakeland Christian Academy, or homeschool program

Reviewers will consider the following when selecting a recipient:

  • Demonstrated characteristics of the DARE program (living productive drug and violence-free life, resisting negative peer pressure

Applicants must answer an additional essay question about their participation in the DARE program. Financial need may be taken into consideration in the event of equally qualified candidates.

KCCF Janet Marie Rager Memorial Scholarship

This fund was established by Janet Marie Rager through a gift in her will. Janet was a senior at Whitko High School in 1979. She was fun, energetic and very bright. On her way to a college visit, she was severely injured in an auto accident. As a result of her head injuries, she lived with and was cared for by her parents, Jack and Mary Lou Rager for the last 22 years of her life. This fund provides scholarships for graduates of high schools located in Kosciusko and Whitley Counties.

 Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Graduate of a high school in Kosciusko County or Whitley County
  • Demonstrates financial need
