Karen Denney Nursing Scholarship

Karen Denney was a caring and compassionate nurse, who dedicated her 35-year career to patients at McCray Hospital and Parkview Noble Hospital. During her career, Karen was the manager of the OB department for over 25 years, an infection control and employee health nurse, and worked in several other departments. She was an inspiration to many who worked with her, demonstrating an uncommon love for nursing and the patients she treated.

The Karen Denney Nursing Scholarship is open to high school seniors who are currently participating in the Health Occupations Education program at Parkview Noble and Parkview LaGrange Hospitals.

The Wanderers Trade School Scholarship

The Wanderers were formed in early 2016, with the sole purpose of giving fellow motorcycle enthusiasts a place to come together, meet and pool their resources to help people and organizations in the community. They are focusing their efforts on a scholarship fund, to help provide an opportunity for an average student to pursue higher education.

To receive a scholarship provided through The Wanderers Trade School Scholarship fund, an applicant must:

  1. Be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Indiana, Illinois or Kentucky.
  2. Be graduating from or have graduated from High School or have a GED.
  3. Be admitted to or enrolled in an accredited college or trade school/program. You may be asked to
    provide a copy of the acceptance letter or class schedule if you are a finalist.
  4. Plan to attend a college or trade school/program
  5. Demonstrate in an essay of 500 words or less how this scholarship will benefit the applicant and his/her
    future educational plans.
  6. Include a letter of recommendation from a high school/college instructor, counselor, or administrator.
  7. All required documentation must be included at the time of submission of application.

James Foundation Scholarship

The James Foundation has a goal of improving the quality of life in DeKalb County, including providing educational opportunities for its youth.

The James Foundation offers three competitive scholarships to graduates of High Schools in DeKalb County.  The renewable scholarships offered are:

  • A two-year scholarship will be awarded to a graduate who intends to enroll in or has been accepted into a two-year course study leading to a degree or certification in a technical, vocational, or trade field. The scholarship awarded will be for $5,000 each year.
  • Two four-year scholarships will be awarded to a graduate who intends to enroll in a four-year baccalaureate program. The scholarship is for $5,000 each year.

The James Scholars are selected on a basis of their ability to excel in their chosen field and demonstrate good standing within the school and community.

Evans-Moss Scholarship

Star Bright Scholarship

Applicants Must:

  • Be high school seniors attending New Haven, Leo, or Woodlan High Schools in the East Allen County Community School system, located in Allen County, Indiana or be a previous recipient of the Star Bright Foundation Scholarship.
  • Be ranked in the top 50% of their graduating class.
  • Be U.S. citizens.
  • Have lived in the school district serving any one of the (3) three high schools for at least (1) one year.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Demonstrate character traits of perseverance and diligence in their school careers.
  • Plan to attend full-time an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or technical school with a strong educational component, in pursuit of an undergraduate degree.

CFGFW Ann D. Ballinger Scholarship

This scholarship is to provide financial assistance for returning adults (24 years or older) with financial need and a record of scholastic achievement. Applicants must reside in Allen County, Indiana, and plan to enroll in a continuing education school for the purpose of developing and enhancing knowledge and skills in the areas of vocational and technical training, including computer-related skills. Appropriate programs may be offered at an accredited college or university in Allen County, Indiana as well as at accredited vocational and technical schools. Scholarship awards are for one year (or term of study); recipients may apply for renewal of the scholarship for up to three years of study. This scholarship is provided by the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne.

CFGFW Nicho Becerra Memorial Scholarship

The Nicho Becerra Memorial Scholarship was established in 2021 to provide opportunities for active-duty members, veterans, and their families through a generous benefactor to honor a son, brother, and best friend Nichodemous Ramon Becerra who graced this earth for 29 years.

Nicho (Nich) graduated from Bellmont High School in 2008 and went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force. After his military career, his curiosity of medicine and his love of helping people brought him into the healthcare industry as a medical technician at Parkview Hospital. He always surrounded himself by his family and a great group of friends that he held as close as family and who continue to remember him by his humor, eclectic taste in music, and love of craft beers.

Through this scholarship, Nicho's love of education, knowledge, and helping those in need will continue in Northeast Indiana.
This Scholarship is for active duty service members, veterans, spouse of a veteran or active duty service member, or legal dependent of a veteran or active service member, honorably discharged or medically discharged.

You must be based in Northeast Indiana, from Northeast Indiana, or residing in Northeast Indiana and attending an accredited college, university, or trade/vocational/technical school. This scholarship is provided by the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne.

CFGFW Reagan Swinford Memorial Scholarship

CFGFW Tony Beam Memorial Scholarship

This fund was established in 2021 in order to provide scholarships for veterans or the family members of veterans in Allen County. This scholarship was created in memory of Tony Beam who served in the United States Army Reserves and as a Human Intelligence Collector/Specialist in the War in Afghanistan. Tony loved spontaneous travel and being outdoors. He was a talented mechanic who enjoyed working on his boat and cars. He was a caring and compassionate friend, son, and brother who knew how to make those around him feel loved.

CFGFW AWS Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is to provide financial assistance for licensed special education teachers in Northeast Indiana (Allen, DeKalb, Adams, Wells, Huntington, Steuben, LaGrange, Noble, Whitley, Wabash, Miami, Kosciusko, Elkhart, Fulton and Marshall counties) who are seeking additional special education certifications.

Applicants must be a teacher in a public school in Northeast Indiana and plan to enroll part-time or full-time in an accredited continuing education college or university for the purpose of obtaining additional special education certification. This scholarship is provided by the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne.

Mary Jane Miller Scholarship

The Mary Jane Miller Scholarship provides financial assistance to individuals who want to improve their skills or advance their education after high school. Scholarship funds may be used at a college or university, business school, vocational school, professional training program or for an accredited course. This scholarship is provided by Lake City Bank.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • The student must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana. Recipients can reapply for the scholarship during their undergraduate years.
  • Employees of Lake City Bank and their immediate family members are not eligible.
