A beloved teacher, coach, and basketball statistician, Wohlford retired from Huntington North in 1993, becoming an active member of Metro Kiwanis until his death in 2000. The Metro Kiwanis received their charter in 1971. The motto of Kiwanis International is “Changing the world one child and one community at a time." This scholarship is administered by the Community Foundation of Huntington County.

CFHC Northwest Elementary School Scholarship

The Northwest Elementary School Scholarship was transferred to HCCF at the closing of the school in 2018. It will provide a scholarship based on the “Northwest Way” to a former Northwest student annually until the 2018 Kindergarten class becomes the Senior Class of 2030, at which time it will provide scholarships to any Huntington County youth graduating from Huntington North. Pokey was born a clown in the mind of an 80-year-old retired teacher from the Huntington County School Corporation in 1993. Pokey spent her former life teaching, nurturing, and stimulating the imaginations of Huntington County students. Every student was encouraged to reach their maximum potential in education.
