Description

Cathy Abbitt was a third grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary School. She was mother to two sons, Nathan and Matthew, and daughter, Amy. After Catherine's battle with cancer ended, her friends and family made gifts in her memory to establish this fund to help Jefferson Elementary School alumni pursue their college dreams.

 Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Graduating senior of Warsaw Community High School
  • Attended Jefferson Elementary School
  • Demonstrates financial need

 Reviewers will consider the following when selecting a recipient:

  • Outstanding record of achievement as demonstrated by academic performance and involvement in extracurricular activities and community service
 

Preference may be given to:

  • Those studying elementary education
  • Those who have had cancer affect their immediate family*

 *Applicants must answer an additional essay question about how cancer has affected their family.

This scholarship is administered by the Kosciusko County Community Foundation.
