CFDC Jon Thomas Smith Memorial Vocational Scholarship

Jon was raised in rural Butler. He was an active member of 4-H and played basketball, and participated on the track team while at Eastside. After high school, Jon became an engineer for Norfolk and Southern Railroad. Jon was exceptionally creative and had a love for art and music. His family says, “he was as kind-hearted as he was tall (6’10”).” This scholarship was started in his memory to support students pursuing a vocational or technical degree. This scholarship is administered by the Community Foundation of DeKalb County. The application is open December 1st through January 31st.
